Spiderman: A Review of This Beloved Superhero

Beloved by throngs of fans since he slung his first web in 1962, Spider-Man the world-famous superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.  His first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 cemented him in comic book history.  More recently his appearance in blockbuster films has made him a smash on the silver screen.  A new film, the Amazing Spider-Man 2, is now in the works and scheduled to be released in May of 2014.  Based on the success of earlier Spidey films, this one is sure to be as big!

 

Comic Book Hero

 

Before he hit the big screen, Spider-Man scaled walls and slung up his arch rivals in webs of steel in scores of comic books.  A human spider with an ability to spin webs—who knew he could reach such heights?  Yet many fans point to his original identity as a high school nerd, a nobody, and an underdog as the reason he has attracted so many fans.  Can the high school nerd get the girl?  To anyone who has ever doubted themselves, Spider-Man allows people to dream and to hope despite was appears impossible.

 

Marvel Comics knew immediately that Spider-Man had struck a nerve.  His continued popularity during the sixties was evidence enough that something was, indeed, special about a kid that got bitten by a radioactive spider.

 

From TV to Silver Screen

 

Spider-Man launched from the pages of comic books to the television screen easily enough.  In fact, viewers may even catch some old television episodes when they check out sites such as www.DirectTVDeal.com.  His first television appearance was on ABC in 1967.  More recently the web-slinger was played by Tobey Maguire who appeared in Spider-Man in 2002.  After battling the Green Goblin, he then faced off with Dr. Octopus.  In the third film of the Maguire trilogy, Spider-Man battled both Venom and Sandman.  The success of the films introduced new generations to the amazement of Spider-Man.

 

Latest Spiderman Movies

 

In 2012 the Amazing Spider-Man was released starring Andrew Garfield.  Also directed by Marc Webb (ironically) who previously worked with Maguire, the 2012 film features Spider-Man battling Lizard, a creature created of Dr. Connor’s mutation serum.  The seventh-highest-grossing movie of the year, this Spidey set the stage for more films to be released in 2014, 2016, and even 2018.  Fans can’t seem to get enough of this classic super-hero!  The latest film stars Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy while Sally Field gets caught up in the web action as Peter Parker’s Aunt May.

 

The Next Spider-Man 2014

 

Fans are now eagerly awaiting the upcoming release in May of 2014.  Production of the film was announced in 2012 and Marc Webb will again direct the action.  The Rhino is slated as the villain and Harry Osborn, son of the Green Goblin, is also going to be inserted into the plot.  To get ready for the next installment, fans often love to revisit past versions of Spider-Man.  So, grab the popcorn and join the many fans who are counting down to the next big screen release!
