New York Sex Offender Sentenced in Child Pornography Case

Jeffery Sikes, of Ceres, New York, was sentenced to 27 years in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release, for his convictions of possession and attempted possession of child pornography. Sikes has prior state convictions for attempted sexual abuse in the first degree and possession of a sexual performance by a child.

Indiana Couple Sentenced for Bank Fraud

John and Linda Van Winkle, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, were each sentenced to two years in prison for conspiring with others, including the former bank president Richard Thomas, to defraud the First National Bank of Northern Kentucky of more than $2.5 million.

Mexican National Sentenced in Arizona Drug Tunnel Case

Ruben Ultreras-Estrada, of Naco, Sonora, Mexico, extradited to the U.S. in May 2006 to face trial for cocaine charges related to the Naco, Arizona drug tunnel, was sentenced in Tucson, Arizona to 25 years in prison.

Pregnant soldier’s death seen as homicide

Authorities are investigating the death of Touma who was seven months pregnant after her body was found at the motel. The Fayetteville Police Department called the death suspicious. The Army’s criminal investigations unit is joining the effort to catch the killer of a Fort Bragg soldier who was found dead in the bathtub of motel room, authorities said Monday.
