Sex offender held in woman’s death

A photo released by the New Britain police dept. shows Mary Ellen Welsh, who police say is missing after a home invasion in New Britian, Conn., Sunday, March 30, 2008. The assailant wounded the homeowner and forced Welsh, who had been visiting, into her car and fled with her, said Sgt. Darren Pearson. Police arrested a suspect, Leslie Williams, 31, Sunday, but Welsh has not been found.  A recently released sex offender brazenly invaded a home, shot two women meeting forĀ  coffee and abducted one of them, whose body was found about 10 miles away, police said.
