Carjacking Down 29% In Prince George’s

Carjackings dropped nearly 30 percent, and auto thefts also fell sharply last year in Prince George’s County, leading an overall decrease in violent and property crimes, according to preliminary statistics released yesterday.

Inmate Given Life Without Parole In 2006 Slaying of Roxbury Guard

Youth Death Toll In 2006 Was 157

More than a third of the 157 children and young adults who died in the District in 2006 came from troubled families that had contact with the city’s child welfare system, according to a D.C. government report published this month. Homicides accounted for nearly a quarter of the fatalities.

Inmate Injured in Attack by 7 Gang Members, Officials Say

Teenager Held in Southeast Drive-By

D.C. police have arrested a teenager in a drive-by shooting that wounded five young people in Southeast Washington this month and said he is also a “strong person of interest” in the shooting of four Ballou High School students Tuesday.
